Cooroy and the surrounding communities
There is so much to do and see in Cooroy and the surrounding communities. Cooroy boasts an award winning library, the Cooroy Butter Arts Centre, the Noosa Botanic Gardens and beautiful Lake MacDonald. Cooroy has a diverse shopping precinct with many unique specialty shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from and enjoy. Within a 20 minute drive to the beautiful beaches of Noosa, Cooroy is most definitely a great place to visit and enjoy all that it has to offer.
Cooroy is not the only wonderful hinterland town. The community is surrounded by many amazing townships that offer you a great experience. The closest town to Cooroy is the township of Pomona. Pomona is full of activities. Each year the town holds the King of the Mountain race, where competitors, both professional and amateurs race from the township to the top of Mount Cooroora. The township also has one of the only silent movie theatre's left in the country, The Majestic Theatre! The historic Majestic Theatre is not just about silent movies, the venue regularly presents live entertainment acts from plays to bands and solo acts. If you are there on the weekends the town is a buzz with coffee shops, markets, mountain bike riders and even the token horse or two. Oh, and it's a must to visit Pomona's own gin distillery, Pomona Distilling Co. Extremely popular with the locals with great food, beautiful atmosphere and a fantastic selection of beverages.
There is no need to stop there though. Just a short drive from here are the townships of Cooran and Kin Kin. Cooran is a beautiful little town. Although it might not seem that busy during the week, that all changes on the weekend when the shops of the Vintage Junction open and the community comes out to enjoy coffee, fresh produce and food from varying food trucks that frequent the township on Sundays. Just up the main street from the Vintage Junction is the Bonsai Brewhouse, situated in the old sawmill. The Bonsai as it's known is a definite must for those who like craft beer and a beautiful atmosphere. Moving on from Cooran you can take the drive to Kin Kin over the range this is wonderful drive, traveling the winding bends over the escarpment ending up in a place that is extremely special. The community is strong and the creativity of the town is stronger. It is a must to eat at Black Ant Gourmet located at the Kin Kin General Store. With live music on Sundays your senses will be in for a real treat. If historic pubs are more your style the Country Life Hotel in Kin Kin also offers a great menu, relaxed beer garden and a good pub feel.
Heading South from Cooroy just a short 15 min drive down the Bruce Highway is the town of Eumundi, famous for the Original Eumundi Markets. The markets are open on a Wednesday and Saturday morning and are definitely worth the visit. While in Eumundi check out the main street which has some great restaurants, specialty stores and a couple of great pubs with a brilliant atmosphere. Leading on from Eumundi is the township of Yandina here you will find The Buderim Ginger Factory known throughout the world for it's ginger products, this is another great place to visit.
So as you have read there is plenty to do and see while you are here. Make sure you get out and visit some of the places we have told you about, you won't be disappointed!
